Spider Crane Lifting for Tight Access Projects

Not every lifting job happens on a clear, open site. Many of the most challenging lifts are the ones with restricted access, limited space and no room for error.

A recent residential project demonstrated exactly why spider cranes have become such a valuable part of the our fleet.

The task was to install heavy paving slabs into a private garden where access was extremely limited. Traditional cranes were not an option, with no suitable access or setup area available.

We selected our Hoeflon C6 spider crane for the job (view specification) due to its compact design and impressive lifting capability. With a tracked width of just 850mm, the crane was able to pass through a tight route, navigating down the side of the property via a 1100mm wide access gap without disruption to the surrounding area.

Once positioned in the garden, the crane was rigged and ready to lift. A total of 15 paving slabs were placed directly into position with millimetre accuracy. The entire lifting operation was completed safely and efficiently before lunchtime.

This project is a perfect example of where spider cranes excel. Their compact footprint, precise control and strong lifting performance allow work to be completed in locations where other cranes simply cannot operate.

Our spider cranes are supplied operated only. This ensures every lift is carried out by experienced operators, allowing our clients to focus on their own trade while we focus on doing what we do best.

If you have a project with difficult access, restricted space or complex lifting requirements, our spider crane could be the solution.
