Investing in Our People: Ian Gillies Achieves Mobile Crane Certification

At Johnston Rigging, we believe investing in our people is key to maintaining the standards our clients expect on every job.

We’re pleased to recognise Ian Gillies, who has recently achieved his Mobile Crane certification.

Ian joined us just over three years ago, bringing a strong background from the quarrying industry with plenty of experience operating heavy machinery. He took to lifting operations straight away and quickly established himself as part of the team.

Since then, Ian has become a key operator within our specialist lifting division. He plays a big role in our spider crane work, often involved in more complex and restricted access lifts, while also operating our HIAB across a range of projects. His versatility and reliability make a real difference day to day.

Gaining his Mobile Crane certification is another step forward. It strengthens his own skill set while giving us greater flexibility as a business, particularly as we move into busy periods where additional crane cover is needed.

We’re proud to support the development of our team and this is a great example of how the right attitude and work ethic lead to real progression.
